Georgia’s very own Lynn A. Manfredi/Petitt, family child care provider, had an article published in the most recent issue of NAEYC’s journal Teaching Young Children. The article is titled, “Building a Community Through Breakfast Club.” In the article she discusses how to ensure that your environment is primed to encourage family engagement and nurture relationships. She gives some very practical strategies of how a breakfast club can build family engagement practices, support social and emotional development of the children as well as supporting dual language learners.

Lynn A. Manfredi/Petitt operates a Bank Street-inspired preschool in her Decatur, Georgia, family child care home. She and Amy C. Baker coauthored Relationships, the Heart of Quality Care (NAEYC 2004). Community building leads her work with children, families, and early childhood education professionals.
